The Rev’d Dr Will Rose-Moore is a priest and theologian. He is currently serving as Assistant Curate at St John’s, Loughton in the Diocese of Chelmsford.
Alongside ministry, Will’s research broadly focuses on gender (specifically masculinity), sexuality, trauma, and violence, and their intersections with theology and the Bible. He recently completed a PhD in Theology from Anglia Ruskin University with Westcott House and the Cambridge Theological Federation, and also holds degrees in theology and biblical studies from Cardiff University.
Will has had numerous publications. His first book Boys Will Be Boys, and Other Myths: Unravelling Biblical Masculinities (SCM Press, 2022) introduces studies of masculinities and the Bible to a popular Christian audience. Will then edited the collection For Nothing is Hidden: Masculinities and Trauma in Church and Theology (SCM Press, 2026), responding to the Church’s violence and safeguarding crises. He is currently preparing a monograph based on his doctoral thesis and a co-edited volume for publication. Alongside these books, Will has also published a variety of journal articles and chapters in edited volumes, as well as blog posts and newspaper articles.
Keen to share his research and experiences, Will regularly makes media appearances for television, podcasts, and radio, such as the BBC. He also makes regular social media content, including for Church of England digital platforms. Will has had an extensive range of teaching, preaching, and speaking engagements at a variety of institutions and churches, such as St Paul’s Cathedral, London and theological colleges in Cambridge and across the UK.
Will is currently a Steering Group member for the Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford project ‘New Christian Masculinities: Searching for meaning and security in a polarised world’ (2026-28). He is also member of the Church of England’s Young Priest Theologian Network (2025-). In the past, Will has been Research Assistant for the ‘Jesus and Trauma’ project (2024-26), as well as Research Associate for the Centre for the Study of Bible and Violence (2022-2025).
Will trained for ordained ministry at Westcott House, Cambridge (2021-24). During this time, he held several roles including the first Inclusion Representative, developing strategies for inclusion and diversity in the student body, and Co-Convener of Bar Theology, inviting and hosting speakers such as Rev’d Dr Charlie Bączyk-Bell, Rev’d Prof. Kelly Brown Douglas, and Prof. Anthony Reddie.
Will has received awards and funding for his work, including a 30(ish) Award and the Equity Advocate Special Recognition Award from Cardiff University’s Alumni Network (2023) and PhD grants from various institutions and bodies (2022-6).
When he isn’t writing, speaking, or in ministry, you might find Will playing piano, enjoying a good musical or movie, cuddling his cat Theo, or out on a run!
